NICOLAS
Summer, 2036.
Madrid, Spain. It was a warm night with a mournful atmosphere. Everyone of us
were silent, just looking at each other's faces. The little hut where we had
passed the last four years was suffering the consequences of the thunderous
storm. Authorities had forbidden to get out of home. However, the message was
received one month ago and we have no clue about what is happening outside at
the moment. Inside the house, we were running out of canned food.
By Nicolás Bagur
We tried to get
out of the hut, but it was impossible. The storm was carrying us. It
lifted my little brother off the ground and my pregnant mother couldn't walk in
the wind. So I decided to take my motorcycle and go to Mercadona to buy some
canned food. I bought cans of fried tomato, pickle and asparagus. The place was
almost empty, there was no food left, it was as if they took a long time
without replenishing it. And I only saw a couple shopping, no one else.

I witnessed a
desolate landscape on my way home, trees detached from their roots, and the
typical footsteps of a storm of such magnitude, but there was something that
really caught my attention, it was the sight of two children playing in a park,
they seemed to be on their own, despite the fact they looked very young. I
decided to stop for a moment to ask them the reason they were there and if they
were alone, but as soon as I stepped a foot in the small park, they
disappeared.
By: Carlo Cabrera
I stood still for
a moment, distrusting of what I had seen. I analyzed the park, thinking they'd
just moved very fast and I'd somehow missed it, but they were nowhere in sight.
I tried to brush off the eerie event and started walking towards the motorcycle
so as to get back to my family, but the food I'd gotten was gone. I tried to
find it, searching hastily around and under the motorcycle. Could it have been
those strange children who took it?

I started to look around, between trees and debris, and I heard a noise. I
took a step forward with precaution and slowly, and I saw a person with a small
girl, around five or six years old. The old person had a bandage around the
eyes filled with blood. Both had their clothes dirty and sloppy. I came even
closer and I saw how the small girl and the old man were eating what I had
previously bought. The girl saw me and she got scared, but I told them that
they shouldn't be afraid.
By Ariana Espada
The girl instantly
turned again and said "I'm not scared, are you?", I replied saying
that everyone is scared in this situation as the storm had left us in a
horrible state. The girl ignored my little speech and told me "You should
be more scared than you are" , that freaked me out and I grabbed the girl
to ask her why she said that, the girl immediately started shouting and the old
man started running away, when I grabbed the girl I appreciated a mark on her
arm that said "Marselo" , it was the last thing I remember before
falling unconscious.

I woke up in a
cave, I did not know the day it was. The only thing I knew was that I could not
move at all, because I was tied to a big rock. Suddenly a huge round and white
figure appeared in front of me and asked me: "Do you know who am I? I
answered "No I don't, Where am I? " 'It' (apparently I did not
have the chance of recognising its gender) told me: "I am
Marselo". I told it "Marselo what" then it told me
"My surname is Hagachatei Konoselo. I come from an african family so that
is why it sounds so strange. Do not blame me please because traditionally my
family was cannibal, so I am too." (José Gálvez)
Then, a horrorous
feeling took over me, I did not realize that my leg had disappeared, now, I
understood why.
I was freaking out
by that moment, I could not do anything, and Marselo was observing me as if I
were a piece of cake. Suddenly, Marselo started saying nonsense things, like
those typical film rituals, I have to admit that I laughed a bit because it
seemed he was saying things such us "Mariaina, haizme Mamha ei tei piago
mañaina".
I did not thought
that the African was so funny, but i think it was not a good moment to think
about that, when he finished the ritual, he stared at my elbow for a minute. (Hugo)
As he had almost
half an arm eaten, I needed to do something, so then I told him;
if I beat you to a
rock paper scissors with my half arm you set me free. He agreed, and we started
playing the most intense game I've ever had, and I won. He untied me and then I
spanked him with my arm, knocking him unconscious, at first I thought of
leaving, but then I saw that succulent deltoid and I don't know why, but I
tried it. Pablo
I liked the taste
of that man more than every other feeling I have had in my life. When only his
bones were left I prepared to get up, but it wasn't that easy as I had loose
one leg and almost one arm. I got out of the cave, took a branch from a tree
and started moving as I could. After hours of walking I finally arrive to my
neighborhood, and a few minutes later I was at my street, but something strange
happened. When I arrive to the number that belonged to my portal, there was
nothing. I stared at the wall for a few seconds when someone call me “Mike”, I
opened my eyes and found myself lying on the bed in my room, then I looked
stunned at my legs and arms and realize they were actually there, I wasn't
missing any part of my body. My mum called me again “Mike come here, fast, look
at the news”,I put the television as she had ordered me and in that moment I
started remembering everything, it seems that being locked up at home was
starting to make me go crazy. By Isabel
The news were
saying the same as the past few months: do not go out of your house it is very
dangerous, you will be punished if you are caught, bla bla bla, always the
same. I was getting bored.
For a week, I
could not stop having the same dream, every single night. At first, I did not
give it any importance. But one day, I started to think that maybe the dream
had some meaning, what if my subconscious was trying to tell my something, and
in that case, what was it? By Sofía
I didn't have a
clue of what could it be, when suddenly my mum told me “Mike, we are running
out of food and the delivery man that should be coming every single month has
been delayed for one week, and as you are the old brother you should go”. In
that moment I was frozen, it was exactly as what happened in my dream. I started
pinching my face to make sure it was not a dream, and it wasn´t. I told my mum
we should wait some more days but she told me we could not. So, I had no choice
and went to buy. By Moe
I tried to go as
fast as a I could, and changing as many things as possible from that nightmare
that had been haunting me for the past couple of days. I had mentally prepared
myself for that moment, if I saw the kids, I would run as fast as my motorbike
could go. Finally, I finished my shopping, and, in order to avoid any risks, I
decided to take a longer route to go home, what I didn’t know was that what I
would face there would be worse than that horrendous nightmare. By
Pedro
I continued my way
home when I suddenly realized I'd forgotten my cell phone in the supermarket.
So I came back, as any of us would have done. I was scared, not just because of
the nightmare, but because of the police. But I realized I was finally out of my
house. I decided to relax and started to enjoy the warm air hitting my face,
the smell of summer, which everyone knows which smell is but no one knows how
to explain where it comes from. I started remembering those days in the Retiro
park with my friends, under the shadow of a tree playing card games or talking.
I didn't know what I had until all of this happened. I didn't appreciate those
moments, and know they were gone for who knows how much time. By Ana Pérez
Finally, the Sun
was shining over Madrid. This actually looked impossible after the catastrophe
that destroyed most of the city, and the following storm, but finally, things
were looking better for our poor country. After Prime Minister Peter Santos had
been ousted by the Great Revolution, the new officeholder, a former minister
and close ally of Santos himself called Luis de Avalon, had levied the
confinement. That afternoon, massive rallies were held in support of the
newborn Republic. By Miguel
I was named the
leader of the opposition and because Luis de Avalon had a secret meeting with a
girl from Venezuela’s dictatorship called Dulcinea, I decided to make a coup,
and restore the guillotine. I killed all those communist, and as I hated a lot
Pablo Conventos and Peter Santos, before behead them, I tortured them, because
they lead Spain to the biggest crisis that it had never experienced, Spain now
was considered like Syria, a country that, after the war that I won, was
impoverished. By Gonzalo
I decided there
was only to recover social and economic stability was to adapt the South Korean
way, which consisted in me and and a group of fellow revolutionary leaders,
known as government, started forcing investment in national companies. Although
it was not as effective as with the Koreans because this is Spain, and Spain is
different, a sense of calm return to the streets. Unfortunately, this would not
last any longer. By Andrés
The calm in the
streets came because the investments done permitted big enterprises to hire
lots of employees. But slowly the market became totally controlled by this big
companies, and all the small businessmen started an organised revolution
against the government and all those supporting them. They created the
¨Revolution of the unattended¨.Manuel Ruiz
The revolution at
first was really calm, only a few strikes but as the time was passing by, the
strikes began to be more aggressive. People started fighting in the strikes,
although it wasn’t too dangerous, the tourist stopped visiting the cities where
the strikes were having place, leading to a drop-off of the tourist industry.
From that moment the local industry started to fall too, leading to another
crisis. But the worst was yet to come… Elisa
Due to the huge
crisis, the strikes intensified. As a result, the number of deaths had greatly
increased and the population had fallen into depravity. The streets were no
longer safe, and the military forces, that were now controlled by the
companies, constantly tried to suppress the strikes. However, they were usually
overwhelmed due to the power that held the civils thanks to the help that
offered other countries, like China or Venezuela, that hated the private
property and, therefore all the companies. Jacobo
Strike after
strike and the situation worsened exponentially. The citizens were now more divided
than ever, and instead of trying to work together to can reach an agreement for
our best, they were focusing in doing the worst for the rest. But one day the
most feared by the spanish population happened and the course of the country
changed. Laura
In the middle of a war which was being held in every
street, a new shakedown the population. Spain had won Eurovision. La Salchipapa
was now a very famous hit and everybody celebrated it together as if nothing
had happened. And the funniest thing is that I was the singer of that song. The
idea came to my mind because that was the only thing I had been able to buy
when I went to the supermarket. Javier
After all the drama and dangerous activities that had
been going in the streets for months this was the best that could had happen to
Spain. Eurovision had a prize of 20 million euros for the winner which in this
case was "Misco 33" a young revolutionary teenager that just wanted
to make his techno music and live of it. Some months later "Misco 33"
decided to invest all the money he had won in small companies to put back
spanish economy again in a great place. Couple years passed by and Spain had
grew so much in economical and militar power that they decided to attack the
United States, it was a rough war but Spain could finish the work as planned.
After that Spain was considered the leader of half of the world and the
principal mission they had as a country was to massacre the rest of the
population and be as powerful as they could.
Sergio Vara
I found interesting the way the character was kind of a good guy, afraid of what could happen to him, and suddenly and for not really a good reason, he became the leader, and after that he did not longer appeared on the story. I would have liked to see his evolution. In my opinion the story would have been more complete if they wouldn't have eliminated the principal character.

ResponderEliminarIt amuses me how we started a normal and current story and from one moment to the next we are able to turn the story around so that it becomes a macabre story, what a weird mind we students have...
I liked the beginning of the story but ever since the main character of the story became the leader of the opposition, it got boring, in my opinion. From that point nothing else about him is mentioned until the very end of the story. I usually like plot twists, but not this one.
