Dwindling Light Bulbs and 

Other Mistakes

Willow grew more and more irritated as she listened to her friends speak. Their mundanity and lack of wittiness had become more unbearable with each passing day. She liked the idea of finding pleasure in these meaningless exchanges, but her eccentricity prevented her from doing so. She didn't want to head home either, though. Her house had gotten infested by moths, which she was too merciful to kill despite finding them revolting. So she instead conformed to her situation and continued listening as she took a sip from her coffee. - Alexa C.

As weeks went on, she realised something was turning her life into a dreary monotonous misery. Her irritation towards her "friends"  ascended into a tremendous hate.  Willow felt as if she didn't belong in this world, depression was already a thing before but now she felt an anger towards living. Nothing gave her the motivation to continue existing but she was too afraid of death to end herself. 

Her frustration towards life made her burst into a blazing hot temper, which she was willing to unleash towards anything and everything. One day, while trying to drink her daily coffee, which was the only thing that was able to calm her down, one of the so disturbing moths sat on her table. In a flush of fury she slapped the table with such a strength that it shook the whole floor, and what was left of the poor moth was a black fluid, spreading on the table as the rest of it was nearly vaporised. 

Despite the fact that she had only killed  an insect, Willow found something interesting in it, something that relieved her. She proceeded to kill another moth, this time trying to focus on the crunching sound it made. She found inside them a little flame that ignited her whole desire of living; killing them gave her the exact dose of dopamine she needed to feel joy. Soon enough, she exterminated all the moths on her own. - Stefan

Days passed and Willow became unhappy again. She needed to revive the same feeling she had while killing those moths. One day on the way home from work, she found a cat. As it had no owner, she took it home. Every day, when she came back from work, the cat waited for her and climbed to the living room table to receive pampers, which made her feel very furious. One day, she got so mad that she grabbed a knife and cut the cat's tail off. When she saw the blood, she felt her adrenaline rushing, and she realized that she needed more to reach happiness and satisfaction. So she cut off the cat's head. - Ariana

Willow felt a very strong feeling of pleasure and satisfaction from killing animals, but she got tired of it. So, he decided to go a step further and kill one of her annoying friends. Her name was Rose, and when she was at Willow's house doing homework, Willow took her dad's ak47 and shot Rose five times before she fell to the ground. - José 

Just after the impact of the bullets, Willow felt something in parallel to her friend; she was having a new experience that felt like explosions inside her. It was something totally different from any other feelings she had ever had.

She stood paralyzed for five minute, looking at the torn off head of the cat, and the dead person that lied before her. She could only see the blood in their eyes, but could not hear their desperate cries for survival.

Willow's mental problems had begun to take hold of her, she was not the same person.  She turned  into some kind of murderous entity. After a few weeks, Willow killed another person. By this time, she was an expert; she started planning her murders perfectly considering every  little detail in such a violent and sadistic way that not even she believe it. But she liked it... She needed it. - Pablo

At that point, Willow felt a happiness that she had not experienced before. Though she realised it wasn't enough, she needed something else to achieve full joy. Suddenly, an idea came to her mind. She needed to hurt someone, but not by killing that person; she needed to hurt someone so much that they would want to kill themselves. Only when she would have seen someone feel in such a way because of her would she feel like the most powerful and respected girl in the world, and in that moment she would live happily ever after. At least that was what she thought. - Isabel

Willow now found herself in a difficult position, she knew that what she was doing was not okay. However, she could not stop. She needed to try and be completely happy once and for all. And it seemed like the only option she had. She needed to find the friend she hated the most, Angelina. 

The next day, Willow offered Angelina to meet in Mery Street park. It was the perfect place, because there used to be hardly any people and it was away from civilization, so no one could hear them.  - Sofía

As she had planned the night before, she prepared all the stuff she needed to make Angelina suffer as much as she could. But, as she was heading to the Mery Street Park, she felt that someone was looking at her the whole time, so she decided not to torture Angelina in the park. Instead, she designed a new plan.

First she went to Tim Hortons and bought two coffees. She added some drops of GHB to Angelina’s coffee, so when she’d drink it, she would be unconscious  in minutes. She then met with her and gave her the coffee. - Moe

Then she offered to pick up Angelina from her house to drive her to the park, which is where she gave Angelina the coffee. Minutes after drinking it, Angelina fell completely asleep, which is when Willow took her to her basement. Her new plan was to torture her there, so she waited for Angelina to wake up while she was watching her sleep.

In that moment, Willow felt something different. She realized that she was attracted to her. Angelina was a really beautiful girl with black hair, freckles, green eyes and with a flat nose. Everyone at their school had a crush on her. That’s the first time Willow looked at Angelina that way. Willow started getting nervous for the first time. Was she making a mistake? But then, Angelina finally woke up. Seeing as she was tied to a chair, she tried to scream, but her mouth was covered. - Roxana

Willow started to explain to Angelina everything she was to do to her. Firstly, she was going to cut her beautiful hair and shave her eyebrows, all of this in front of a mirror,  so Angelina would see how she lost what she appreciated the most, her beauty. After that, she would start stabbing her in parts where no vital organs were near, just for her to suffer all the pain possible. She would do this for several days, until she would finally torture her to death. - Pedro

By saying this out loud, Willow stopped for a second. Was she really going to do all of that? Did Angelina deserve it? Lots of thoughts filled up her mind. It was cloudy, she started feeling dizzy. What was happening to her? She didn't understand anything. She no longer had control of the situation. While she was thinking all this, a hard object hit her head. - Ana Pérez

The lamp in Willow’s basement had just fallen over her. Angelina took the chance to quickly run away from the house, and Willow was scared because she would be caught and put into jail. Luckily for her, Angelina was not able to remember which house she fled from, and Willow’s neighbour, a black man called John Wilson, was arrested by the incredibly racist Mississippi police. - Miguel de Perosanz

Willow was scared, because she maintained a relationship with John Wilson, so she decided to kidnap Angelina again. But this time, it would be much more difficult, because she was always at her parents’ house. Luckily, one day, both of Angelina’s parents left the house because they needed to buy the pills that Angelina took to surpass the trauma from the kidnapping. Willow was prepared in advance, so at the exact moment in which Angelina’s parents left the house, she started to go there. - Gonzalo Quintanilla

Willow waited outside the house, and started watching the inside through a window. When Willow saw Angelina, a strange feeling invaded her. She still loved her, although she looked like a whole different person due to the torture. On the other hand, she wanted to continue what she started, she needed the shot of dopamine that causing Angelina pain would give her. - Andrés

Willow finally decided to enter the poor girl's house. She snuck through the back door after forcing the lock. She had a tour around the house and looked at all the family pictures. At this point, this wasn’t just giving her joy, it felt more like an obligation, a desire inside her she had to fulfill to keep herself alive. Decisively, at last, she went up the stairs to Angelina’s bedroom. Willow opened the door and found the room was empty. - Manuel Ruiz

Willow didn’t understand it, she thought she had everything planned, but this event caught her off guard. Suddenly, she felt something hard hitting her head. Angelina hither with a baseball bat, which made Willow unconscious for two hours, more or less. When Willow woke up, she was tied to a chair, the same way Angelina had been when she kidnapped her. Willow was very confused, and at that moment Angelina appeared with an evil face. She told Willow that she remembered everything from when she kidnapped her, but she didn’t say anything to the police because she wanted revenge. - Elisa

Willow saw how Angelina’s eyes were full of anger, but also of happiness. She realized that Angelina was that person, her true love. When the girl was going to start torturing Willow, she stopped her and confessed her feelings. She expressed them in a romantic but also sadistic way, something that Angelina could not ignore. She untied Willow, and told her she would accept her feelings if she helped her release this feeling of anger and angst. - Jacobo

Once free, a feeling of necessity of dopamine enveloped Willow, it was the first time she’d felt it so strongly. Willow explained to Angelina everything about those feelings she was having and what she had been doing to satiate them. At the start, Angelina looked at her with an expression between fear and interest in what she was heraring. A couple of minutes of silence passed by until Angelina asked, “What are we going to do now?” - Laura

Willow remembered. John Wilson! He had been imprisoned, but due to a lack of evidence he would be released again at any moment. And when that happened, he was for sure going to try to kill Angelina for revenge. They had to kill him, if not, they would die. Angelina wasn't sure at first, but she was terrified and didn't want to die, so they had to do it as fast as possible. They ran away from Angelina's house because that was going to be the first place that John would search. - Javier

They ran in the north direction, the opposite of which John was supposed to be. As they were running they were thinking about how they would stop him from causing any damage. The first idea that popped to their head was to buy some guns so they could protect themselves, but they weren't old enough so they resorted to another option, which was going to Angelina's house to her dad's guns. It was a dangerous option because it was going first place where John would search, but it was also the only option. - Sergio Vara

They spent some weeks planning the murder, whilst John was in jail. Nothing could go wrong, the plan was perfect. They would kill John, but as they did not have anything against him, they only wanted to protect themselves, so a quick death would be ideal. A headshot, quick and efficient, no suffering. Little did they know that the plan was not going to go as expected, something worse, much worse, was going to happen.

One day, Angelina and Willow were quietly lying on the sofa watching TV and suddenly saw something on the news that they weren’t expecting. They said that John had escaped from prison two days ago. The two looked at each other scared, and suddenly heard something coming from the kitchen.  Angelina loaded the pistol, but Willow didn't know what to do. As they both headed towards the kitchen, John appeared behind Willow, and slit her neck, to which Angelina responded by shooting John in the head immediately.

In that instant, John fell to the floor, he was dead. But this would not be as easy as it had seemed, as John was being chased by the police, who entered the house to find a terrific scene, full of blood. The police interrogated them, and they both returned home, as they told the police all that had happened during the previous months. Willow was condemned to death penalty for her previous crimes. Angelina could not take this pain any longer, so she ended her life in hopes that she would reunite with her lover in the eternal life.
